What's with the LAG?
I've been playing GW for around 40 months and have always had a nice, low, consistent ping of 30-100. Ever since the server link or whatever they tried (and failed) to fix the arena syncer problem with, I've been consistently getting placed in the European servers where my ping is never under 400. The winter event doesn't help either. It's getting to the point where my character is never actually standing where my screen shows it to be and skills take over two seconds to activate. PvP, the whole reason I play this game, is impossible.
Why exactly is this happening? Can something be done? EDIT: I've sent the ticket below to NCSoft Support. Let's see what happens. Quote:

No, I've had the problem too same as he is having getting lagged taking forever to cast skills & going to 1 location to not moving and getting stuck is VERY annoying, I've never had that problem before.

As far as I can tell it's due to the server merge from September or whenever it was. They made it so that the match takes place wherever the majority of the players in it are from. Unfortunately for pretty much everyone in the US, 70% of those players are in Europe, which means that no matter where they go they will lag. I've played at numerous locations and it's always the same.
Seems to me that this could all be fixed if they'd just unlink the dang servers since it didn't fix anything. That way we can actually choose where we play to minimize lag. |

It could be that there is more lag then ussual and it could be that its because of the merge, but Im afraid that Anet logs would show that there has been no increase in lag, and even if the merge is indeed the reason, I doubt Anet would unmerge, they dont like to admit their mistakes.
Also, I personally have experience no extra lag, besides the ones caused from the event and im afraid for you that most people also havent, or we would probably be hearing about it, kind of like how it was a while ago. |

Well im having issues as of to-day,
Not one issue before and as a new Rig dont be so dispondent it will pass once all the festive parts pass. Perfect up until to-day and if your not getting it then your lucky thats all . No need for comments on what most people are getting as you dont know until someone posts here and this is only a small cog in the overall gamers who are playing. |

eh i seem to get alot of lag whenever i try to do pvp( which is why i stoped) but yes i tried in December, couldn't even cast a spell w/out mapping back to my base.
so yes it could be due to the server's mergeing, but since i didnt have a clue b4 i cant speak for that now. |

Check your running programs. IM, active downloads/uploads, auto-updates, etc.
Also, be sure you're not using a router and someone else is downloading 405GB of free video material through the same router. If none of the above are the problem, check it with your ISP. Quote:
On a more funnier note, I think this is the source of your problems: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User...ouser/Laggrawr |

Despite my previous comment beign entirely deleted, the fact still stands that there are some idiots who'll put it down to you. I've encounter similar lag issues,my ping has only recently dropepd down to an average <200. Think it may be anet bailing out on euro servers or just latency.

Ok heres the answer
Wintersday redux - thats the main lag cause why ? - pvp in the event ( snowball ) brings a lot of ppl playing , snowball dominance as its an easy farm and probably both raptors and wraith quests. Before event id enter eotn with no probs - no red dot but when event started and i went 30 mins later into eotn .... hello red dot and lag. You think its bad now - wait till canthan new yr and dragon festival - both festivals for the 9 rings afk lovers who always and i mean always have their damn bloody pets out while afk.( Soz it gets me so mad when they do that lol ) If you`ve had this lag problem since before xmas then i dont know . |

The lag is your fault, even if every other online game you play doesn't lag, the gw's lag is on your end! The A-Net rug is higher than Mount Everest with all the lag complaints they have swept under the carpet
